Administrative institutions strengthen the capacity of investigating and dealing with trademark violation cases

State Administration for Industry and Commerce recently announces that Administrations for Industry and Commerce at all levels across the country investigate and deal with 56634 trademark violation cases of all types in 2008 with an increase of 12.55% over 6316 of last year, 45492 domestic cases with an increase of 13.74% over 5494 of last year, and 11142 foreign related cases with increase of 7.97% over 822 of last year.
As for the trademark registration and investigation cases, 52165 various trademark violation cases were registered and investigated with an increase of 33.94% over 13218 of last year. Among these cases, 8577 trademark violations were registered and investigated, with an increase of 48.83% over last year, and 43588 infringements and imitations trademark cases with an increase of 31.35% over last year.
In the view of economic regions, there were 9597 investigated cases from west region, 35.57% increase over last year; 32895 cases of east region, 14.86% increase over last year; 4142 cases of middle region.
The top ten provinces, under the consideration of number of investigation cases, are listed as follows: Zhejiang ( 8587), Guangdong (4414), Fujian (4403), Henan (3585), Shandong (3385), Shanghai (2964), Anhui (2563), Shanxi (2511), Hebei (2424) and Beijing (2292). The trademark violation cases of the above ten provinces account for half of the total number of cases, amounting to 65.56%.
